Physiotherapy at home for muscle, joint and ongoing pain

When pain makes the trip to a clinic hard, a physiotherapist can come to you. They assess the problem at home and plan treatment and exercises around your day.

If pain is new and severe, or comes with other new symptoms, see a doctor first. Oreka is not an emergency service. In an emergency, call 995.

How home physiotherapy can help

  • Assessing the painful area and how it affects movement
  • Exercises for strength, flexibility and posture
  • Advice on daily activities and work around the pain
  • A plan you can keep up between visits

Your physiotherapist decides what is right for you after assessing you.

What a home visit involves

Each visit is 60 minutes at home, starting on the hour. At the first visit, your physiotherapist asks about your health and goals, sees how you move, and agrees a plan with you. Initial and follow-up visits cost the same.

Questions

Do I need a diagnosis first?

No, but share any diagnosis, scans or doctor’s advice you have. Your physiotherapist assesses you at the first visit and suggests seeing a doctor if something needs checking.

How many visits will I need?

It depends on the problem. Your physiotherapist suggests a plan after the first visit, and you decide it with them.
