How much does home physiotherapy cost in Singapore?

Short answer: private home physiotherapy in Singapore usually costs about S$180 to S$320 for a 45 to 60-minute visit. With Oreka, every 60-minute home visit is S$250 nett, with nothing added at payment. If cost is a concern, eligible Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents may be able to get subsidised home therapy through the Agency for Integrated Care.

What affects the price of a home visit

  • Visit length. Some providers sell 45-minute visits, others 60. Compare the price per visit and the time you get.
  • Travel. Some providers add a transport or travel fee on top of the session, depending on distance. Ask whether the quoted price is all-in.
  • Time of day. Evening and overnight visits usually cost more, if they’re offered at all.
  • First visit vs follow-ups. Some providers charge more for the first assessment. Others, including Oreka, charge the same for every visit.
  • Packages. Some sell bundles of sessions upfront at a lower per-visit price. Check what happens to unused sessions.

Ways to pay for home physiotherapy

Insurance

Some health insurance policies cover physiotherapy, sometimes only with a doctor’s referral. Coverage depends entirely on your policy. Oreka gives you a receipt after each visit to send to your insurer, but can’t promise a claim will be paid. Check with your insurer before you start, and ask whether they need a referral.

MediSave and government subsidies

Oreka is a private service and doesn’t process MediSave or government subsidy claims. If you want to use subsidies, look at the public option below.

Subsidised home therapy through AIC

The Agency for Integrated Care (AIC) runs a Home Therapy service: physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy at home, for seniors and people who are frail and homebound.1

  • Cost: from S$125 per visit, before any government subsidies.1
  • Subsidies: for Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents, means-tested on household monthly income per person, or on the home’s Annual Value when there is no household income.1
  • How to apply: talk to your doctor at the hospital or polyclinic, who can help submit the application, or visit an AIC Link office. AIC’s hotline is 1800-650-6060.1

Subsidised services can have eligibility criteria and waiting times. Private services like Oreka cost more, but you can enquire directly, with no referral or means test.

Questions to ask any provider

  1. Is the price all-in, including travel?
  2. How long is each visit?
  3. Do follow-ups cost the same as the first visit?
  4. Do I pay per visit, or upfront for a package?
  5. Is the physiotherapist registered with the Allied Health Professions Council? (You can check on the AHPC register.)
  6. What happens if I need to cancel?

Frequently asked questions

How much is a home physiotherapy session in Singapore?

Private home visits generally cost about S$180 to S$320 for 45 to 60 minutes. Oreka charges S$250 nett for every 60-minute visit. AIC’s subsidised Home Therapy starts from S$125 per visit before subsidies, for eligible patients.

Is home physiotherapy more expensive than going to a clinic?

Usually, yes. The therapist travels to you, so a home visit typically costs more than a clinic session. For people who find it hard to get to a clinic, it can still be the more practical option.

Can I use MediSave for home physiotherapy?

Not with Oreka: Oreka is a private service and doesn’t process MediSave or subsidy claims. For subsidised home therapy, ask your doctor at the hospital or polyclinic about AIC’s Home Therapy service.

Do I need a referral?

Not for Oreka: you can send an enquiry without one. AIC’s subsidised service is applied for through your doctor, and some insurers need a referral before paying a claim.
